Practice went well but they found that they needed to make a spring and gear change before they returned. Justin qualified 14th out of 25 cars and went through tech again immediately after qualifying. “Someone” forgot to put fuel in the car after practice so they came up a few pounds short of the 2400 pounds required. Oops. Justin started in the rear with three other cars that had the same weight problem. The track surface was terrible due to it being the first race. Big holes appeared—not good! Justin was able to pass a couple of cars but said the car was catching the right front corner, and it was trying to pitch the car sideways. Justin ran about half of the race before retiring to the pits. H.E.A.T. finished 16th. Not the finish they were hoping for. Justin went out to wash the race car Sunday morning and found the right front tire cut. This explained why the car was rolling over so much on the right front during the race.

Wythe Raceway gave H.E.A.T. a lot of good PR and Rick and Deputy Vaught, of the Wythe County Sheriff’s Office, were interviewed over the PA. The track owners, Fred and Susan Brown took good care of them. Fred even put an advertisement about H.E.A.T in the track handout. Fred and Rick threw fabulous new H.E.A.T. T-Shirts from the press box. They could see people scrambling to get one. The stands were packed, and Burton felt the event was very successful.

Great news from Martin Racing! And they are so excited about this! (Drum roll please..) They have an in car camera now. They were able to film practice and qualifying. It worked out great and they are excited about its potential. This will be great on the H.E.A.T. web site, Facebook page, and You Tube. Notices will be coming soon!
