H.E.A.T. Handles It!

It was smoking hot at Motor Mile when a total of 33 late models showed up. The cars were split into two groups for practice. The H.E.A.T. racecar went out in the first group, dodging a wreck that eliminated two cars from the event. Justin handled the car great. Burton qualified 28th in the first race and 26th in the second race. The drivers had their work cut out for them. The left front tire blistered somewhere during the second lap and resulted in terrible vibration early on lap 29. They were hesitant to start the second race on the tires, not knowing what would happen. The track agreed to let them race on practice tires, which unfortunately had around 400 laps on them already. They could not buy new ones because it may have raised a competitive advantage. They also had to start last for changing tires. Our guys have had their share of bad luck lately! Justin was in the spotters’ tower right before the second race when he found out his radio headset had quit working. The track held up the race, so Justin could run down to the pits and get Lisa’s radio. They eluded several wrecks and came home unscathed. Perhaps some luck was present that day after all. The drivers had a lot of fun anyway and enjoyed seeing all their friends at Motor Mile.

Justin heads to Wythe this week to tackle the big half mile. They will be busy getting the #7 ready for Langley on Saturday, August 9th. They will also be changing springs, sway bar and track bar location on the #21 for Lonesome Pine, too. Lots to do before racin’ time!
